About Mayfield, KY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Mayfield is a lovely Kentucky town with a great deal of character and historical significance. It is charming, beautiful and small without being too small. With a population hovering around 10,000, it is small enough to be a tight knit community but large enough to support local commerce such as restaurants and stores. The beautiful scenery and the seasonal weather make it an ideal place to raise children. They can swim in July and sled in January!
Mayfield was in the center of a historically significant land purchase in America. The Jackson Purchase was a large land purchase between Andrew Jackson and the Native Americans living in the area at the time. This occurred in 1818 and, by 1821, Mayfield was the county seat of Graves County. In 1858, the Memphis, New Orleans, and Northern Railroad was built and this connected the town to the outside world. The town was a major market for both loose leaf tobacco and clothing manufacturing. There is also evidence of the residents’ involvement in the Civil War to be found around town. On a warm spring or summer day visitors should take stroll through town and check out the historical buildings that bring to life an image of this town hundreds of years ago.
The modern day town of Mayfield is every bit as charming as one would expect with large brick buildings and pride in history that is evident on every corner. It is also home to 8 parks and outdoor facilities that residents and visitors can enjoy. On a hot summer day, bring the kids to Kiwanis Park to play at the spray park or on a cool autumn day enjoy the chilly air and falling leaves as you stroll on the Oak Grove Walking Trail. There are also parks with picnic shelters, tennis courts and much more. In short, there is something for everyone.
